The Power of Love
I cannot write about LOVE without quoting this scripture, 1 Corinthians 13. This scriptures let us know that without love, you are nothing. Whether you are gifted or rich, without love you are nothing. Love is an universal language and it is the one that truly brings us together. Without it, the world is just a cold place to live in. That is why Jesus said, love your neighbour as you love yourself. We might not be related but I am capable of loving you. Capable without the knowledge of me knowing you.
Recognize this, love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres. Love never fails. With this quoted verses, this simply means when I encounter this from myself or my neighbour, it means I am not practicing love. Because the bible comes again and say God is love and perfect love cast out fears.
And we know that God is perfect, for us who believe in him and believe that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour. So all the characteristics that love portrays, for humans to live in them, they need to give in to the power it brings. Trust me, no human by himself can portray that character. We need to abide to the power it gives. We hate as humans, we are jealous of each other. We keep record of wrongs and we fail the ones we claim to love. If you want to make love effective in your life, give yourself into it. Understand what love is and understand the power it carries.
You will have to go through challenges in order for the power of love to function in you. It is not just going to take you to pray for this to work. Let me give you an example. When you pray and ask God to teach you or train you to be patient, what does God do? He will put you in a situation where your patience would be tested in order for it to be developed in you. You already have it, it just needs to be brought out of you. All that is required for you to be patience, it is already in you. You are capable just you have not practiced it.
Just like when it comes to love, you are capable to love, just you need to practice all that love says it is. Let go of what you know it is not required. Let go of the anger, the hate and give yourself into the POWER OF LOVE.
